September 5, 2025- Ruamrudee International School Ratchapruek (RISR) celebrated a historic milestone with its first Senior Convocation Ceremony, honoring the pioneering Class of 2026, the school’s inaugural Grade 12 cohort.
The convocation, a cherished Ruamrudee tradition, signifies more than the start of the final year. Each student received the Senior Pin, symbolizing leadership, service, and the responsibility of becoming role models for future generations.
The ceremony was graced by H.E. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, who delivered an inspiring message on lifelong learning, global citizenship, and the values of Head, Hands, and Heart. He encouraged students to reflect on their journey so far while embracing the limitless paths ahead, reminding them that their choices will shape both their own futures and the communities around them. His address echoed RISR’s vision: Ad Astra-To the Stars & Beyond.
“Whatever path you may take, the values you have learned here will guide you to succeed as true global citizens, lifelong learners, and compassionate individuals.”
The ceremony concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between RISR and Rangsit University, establishing a strategic partnership to provide senior-year internships and hands-on learning opportunities. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), this initiative enables students to explore potential career paths and apply their learning in real-world contexts, further strengthening the school’s mission to develop future-ready leaders.
Founded in 1957, Ruamrudee International School (RIS) has been a cornerstone of international education in Thailand for nearly seven decades, cultivating generations of students through academic excellence, character development, and service. From its origins as one of the country’s first international schools, RIS has further opened Ratchapruek Campus in 2019 to serve families in western Bangkok.
The event also celebrated the 68-year partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and RIS, a collaboration built on trust, shared values, and a mutual commitment to nurturing global citizens.
For the Class of 2026, this convocation marks a personal milestone and a historic moment for the school. As RISR’s first graduating class, they carry the responsibility of leading by example and shaping the school’s legacy. Ad Astra-To the Stars & Beyond reflects their journey: uniting learning, leadership, and compassion while inspiring younger generations.
Today, RISR stands as a dynamic center of innovation and excellence, offering an American international curriculum from Pre-K through Grade 12, fully accredited by WASC, with advanced placement courses and programs of choice, and a candidate for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). This convocation underscores that RISR and all RIS campuses are not just places of learning-they are communities of legacy, and the Class of 2026 now steps forward to carry RISR’s vision beyond its walls, leaving a path for others to follow.
